About Us

Motel Studios began when Sarah Parcell & Celeste Hodges came together determined to create a space where they could create their art, teach classes, and empower the community to get creative. In a short time, they acquired a 2000 square foot space, 8 pottery wheels, and so much more to furnish the studio and make Motel Studios a reality.

Sarah K Parcell

Founder

Sarah Kirk Parcell is a Roanoke, Virginia native, born and raised into a family of creatives and artisans. Influenced by her mother's early encouragement of self-expression, Sarah developed a unique connection between the abstract and visual representation. With a profound interest in identity, expression, and language, Sarah found her artistic calling and preferred medium. After a brief stint in Richmond, Virginia, she returned to Roanoke with a clear vision of pursuing a career as an artist. Despite practicing in various renowned studios over the past decade, Sarah seized the opportunity to bring a long-awaited idea to life. Teaming up with local potter Celeste Hodges, they co-founded Motel Studios. This new creative space not only allows Sarah to work on larger canvases but also provides a platform to build an artistic community, fostering inspiration for her own creations while supporting and empowering fellow artists.
